Toyota, Lexus recall 1.8 million vehicles due to fuel pumping incident

The recall covers many models from 2013 to 2019 including Lexus LS, LC, RC, GS, etc., and a long list of Toyotas from Corolla to Land Cruiser.

Toyota, Lexus Recalling 1.8 Million Vehicles for Fuel-Pump Issue

UPDATE 3/4/2020: Toyota has updated the recall related to fuel pump problems, adding 1.2 million vehicles in the United States to the list of recalled vehicles. Toyota said about 1.8 million vehicles were affected by the recall. Affected vehicles include models from 2013 to 2018 in addition to the previously named 2018 and 2019 models and affect most Toyota or Lexus models in their product lines. Visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your vehicle is affected by the recall.

Toyota announced that it is recalling nearly 700,000 cars, including various Lexus models, as a fuel pump may abruptly stop working causing the vehicle to die.
A variety of 2018 and 2019 models were affected on both Toyota and Lexus models.
Toyota said owners will be notified by mail in March.

Recalled vehicles include: Lexus LS 460 2013-2015; Lexus GS 350 2013-2014; 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser, Lexus IS-F; Toyota 4Runner 2014-2015, Land Cruiser; Lexus GX 460, IS 350, LX 570; Lexus NX 200t 2015, RC 350; Lexus IS 200t 2017, RC 200t; Toyota Sienna 2017-2019; Lexus RX 350; Lexus GS 300 2018; 2018-2019 Toyota Avalon, Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Sequoia, Tacoma, Tundra; Lexus ES 350, GS 350, IS 300, IS 350, LC 500, LC 500h, LS 500, LS 500h, RC 300, RC 350, RX 350L.

In its statement, Toyota said if the fuel pump stops working, the engine will be active and various warning lights will light up. This can cause the car to crash and the engine cannot be restarted afterward. Toyota said that if the engine stops at higher speeds, the result could be a crash.
